ASAP has many volunteer opportunities, year-round, working directly with students or behind the scenes. ALL program staff, whether paid or volunteer, are required to attend ASAP’s child safety training and submit to a background check. Volunteer opportunities this year include, but are not limited to:
Snack Sponsors through ASAP’s No More Starving Artists! program
Snack Sponsors organize healthy snacks for about twenty students (per week, per program location). Sponsors may choose to serve one week, several weeks, or an entire session. They plan, purchase, and coordinate serving simple, healthy snacks at a designated location.
Studio Assistants
Studio Assistants work in the schools, assisting ASAP teaching artists, and are the primary support to the students enrolled in ASAP. Studio Assistants help maintain a safe studio environment and encourage students during their lesson, often working side by side with them.
Floaters and Subs
ASAP understands that not everyone can commit to 7–8 weeks of service. People also occasionally get sick and should not work around children, so need someone to fill their place for a day. Volunteering at ASAP does not have to be all-or-nothing: our roster of substitutes and floaters includes people who may be able to help some weeks but not others. ASAP is grateful for any time you are willing to give.
Admin Support
In addition to direct-serve program volunteers, ASAP benefits from the day-to-day services of individuals willing to lend their organizational and management skills to assist with program administration.
Committee and Board Leadership
Arts for the City, Inc., is led by a small and active board of directors, supported by several functioning committees, such as Fundraising. Community leaders interested in helping grow the ASAP organization may inquire about getting involved in these ways.
Summer Art Camp Studio Assistants
Join the After School Arts Program (ASAP) at our 15th year of summer arts camp! Assist our Teaching Artists as they lead free arts activities for children of all ages. Work directly with kids, help set up and clean up — no arts experience necessary. ASAP hosts two camps this year: the last week of June and last week of July. Sign up for one day or all ten!
June 26-30, 2023 @ Columbus Park
July 24-28, 2023 @ Martin Luther King jr. Park
12:30-3:30 each day of Camp
