StaffMichelle Bolton King, Executive Director Michelle Bolton King is a native of Des Moines, Iowa, with more than fifteen years professional experience in arts administration and communications. She received her BA and MA from the University of Iowa, a diploma from the University of Paris IV—the Sorbonne, and a publications specialist certificate from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She has provided consulting services to a variety of non-profit and arts-related organizations. King cares deeply about the welfare and education of the young people in our community. She believes that the arts, in particular, allow for self-reflection and self-expression in ways that other activities do not. She knows the transformative experience the arts can provide for participants and believes that all children, regardless of family income or background, need the opportunity to connect with and explore the arts. The fact is, however, that too often those opportunities are not accessible to kids because of cost or schedule conflicts or lack of support or other issues out of their control. King’s commitment to ASAP is fueled by her passion to make those connections happen. Board of DirectorsRachel Thorson Mithelman, President |
" While our children have access to sports and recreation programs, ASAP is the only fine arts program in this neighborhood and we are so thankful for this presence. In partnering with ASAP for two years, we are continually impressed with the good planning, the tight collaboration and the integrity of the art faculty. As grant administrator, I feel this program brings a lot of value for the cost. "
